Wielding her artistic weapon of choice, TexaQueen, who divides her time between Melbourne and California, interrogates expressions of feminist, queer, racial identities and cultural heritage and estrangement within her vibrant images of friends, artists, lovers and self. With strategic humour and a frenzy of colour, TextaQueen’s work disrupts the commercialisation of the female form and critically engages with the slippery separations between vulnerability and empowerment, intimacy and exhibitionism. Part-performance artist, part illustrator TextaQueen is a modern day artist superhero alter ego, complete with attire befitting the role. Commissioned 2012
