Dr Brett Leavers
Richard is delighted to announce that Dr Brett Leavers is joining his practice. Brett is a talented, compassionate and highly trained Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgeon who shares Richard’s passion for treating patients with diseases of the Head and Neck. Richard has trained and mentored Brett
over the past three years. Brett sees general otolaryngology and head and neck patients. He is appointed to St Vincent’s Private and St Vincent’s
General hospitals.
Expanding the clinical care team
Over the past ten years Richard has specialised in treating benign and malignant diseases of the Head and Neck. His excellent results have contributed to an increase in cancer survivorship leading to high numbers of patients requiring ongoing monitoring. Together Richard and Brett will provide the long term care and reassurance patients are looking for. In addition to seeing head and neck patients Brett will also provide general adult otolaryngology services.
The HPV related oropharyngeal cancer epidemic is another reason why Brett is joining Richard’s practice. The St Vincent’s Head and Neck Multi Disciplinary Team (MDT) is the busiest in NSW and continues to get busier every year. In addition to bringing Brett into the practice Richard has also created the position of Head and Neck Nurse Practitioner. Lisa Heathcote has been appointed to the role. She brings to the practice a wealth of experience and expertise gained from years of working in critical care.
